“Train up a child in the way they should go: and when they are old, they will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6 KJV)

Here at Total Grace Christian Center we believe strongly in the ethic of training our children and allowing them to not only participate in worship, rather to become part of the fabric of today’s Christian church.

The Acolyte Team is a ministry for young men and women ages 7 – 18, who serve as a significant part of the Worship Service as designated by our church leadership.

In line with biblical and historical tradition, an Acolyte, meaning companion, helper, or attendant, serves closely with the Pastors, Elders, Ministers, and Deacons performing ceremonial duties by presenting the spiritual symbols of our faith such as the cross, torches, candles, and bibles.

The presence and service of an acolyte can be witnessed as early as the Old Testament where Samuel assisted Eli, the liturgical priest with duties in his priesthood in Shiloh.  (1 Samuel 2:18).  It is believed that a child’s desire to serve as an acolyte is closely connected to his or her adult aspirations to clergy hood or service in ministry, as witnessed by the adult life of Samuel (1 Samuel 3).

This ministry will allow for your children to become closely connected to their role and ability to participate and become part of the fabric of worship while meeting new friends and setting an example for other young men and women.
